The Loar bookend is a creation made of soft, rounded curves that give it a harmonious silhouette. Its oblong shape gives it a natural elegance and majesty. The shell inclusions give it character and originality. The Loar bookend is not just a simple object to support books on a shelf, it is a design piece in its own right. The Loar bookend can be used alone, to hold books against a wall, or in pairs.
To design a Loar bookend, 480 grams of shells are reused.
MALÀKIO's creations are handmade in their workshop in Nantes using a process that consumes very little energy. Each object therefore generates a very low carbon footprint. This artisanal process makes each piece unique; the possible presence of irregularities or fine bubbles resembling a small chip is normal and not a defect; this is due to the manual manufacturing process. This is also what makes their material so unique!
